My role
Keeping track of your expanses in Nubank's account and credit card can be quite frustrating.
Currently It's not possible to see where you are spending most of your money in.
I worked on this problem trying to solve and validate a solution.
-
User research
-
User interviews
-
Interface and experience design
-
User testing
Immersion and Research
I first immersed myself into the reality of users to understand if that was a real issue to users or not and also if I could solve it.
I dug deep the Nubank's community forum to find pain points related to finance control and ran quantitative and qualitative interviews to understand users' behaviours relating to finance control.
Nubank has a tag system but you can't compare tags to understand where your money is being spent the most.
Hypotesis
Making it easier to consume the account's big data and lowering the cognitive effort may help users better control their finance.
Exploration and ideation
After coming up with a hypotesis that could be tested I did some exploration to understand If this problem has been solved before by other companies to see what paths I would take to solve the problem.
I researched some apps and undertood that most of them are super apps with a lot of features that the users do not use, and also, the Nubank's design philosophy is about simplicity and objectiveness so I tried to design a solution with that in mind.
Solution
The solution consists of a minimalist and simple graph view showing where you are spending your money the most, and giving you the ability to control how much you wanted to spend on each category.
User testing
The final step was to test with real Nubank users and gather feedback about the solution created.
It's important to point out that my objective was not to create a perfect solution but instead validate the problem and a initial solution.
That's why I did not continued to improve the solution any further.
Results
The user flow had 87,4% of sucess and users found that this solution really came in hand when controlling their finances.
